Why a roofer should be the one on your roof in December
A staple through a shingle is a leak in March. That is the part homeowners do not see coming: seasonal light crews work fast, and the fastest way to hang a light line is to drive something through the roofing material or wedge it under a shingle course. We use clips that grip the drip edge, the gutter lip, and the shingle butt without penetrating anything, because we are the ones who would have to come back and fix it. Your roof is under warranty from somebody. Do not let a December job be the reason it is not honored.
The roofs out here are not easy ones
Steep pitches, two-story elevations, and the tile and metal roofs on the custom homes between Boerne and Canyon Lake are exactly the jobs a general handyman turns down or does badly. Height and pitch are our normal working conditions. Tile in particular is unforgiving: walk it wrong and you crack pieces that have to be sourced and replaced, which is why we treat tile repair as its own trade the rest of the year.
You get a look at the roof while we are up there
Every holiday install includes the same free Haag Certified inspection we would do any other month, with photos. Late fall is the useful time to find storm damage from the spring hail season, before winter weather works on it and well before you are trying to reach a roofer in an emergency. If we find nothing, we will tell you that too.
Holiday spots are limited by daylight and crew time, and they fill from October on.

It will if the lights are attached with staples, nails, or by lifting shingles, which is how most seasonal crews do it fast. Every one of those makes a hole or breaks a seal in the roof surface, and the leak usually shows up months later in spring rain, long after anyone connects it to the lights. Non-penetrating clips that grip the drip edge, gutter lip, or shingle butt hold fine through a Hill Country winter and leave nothing behind.
